An Introduction to Uncle Mermaid

The Uncle Mermaid NFT project is derived from a toyline our team designed nearly half a decade ago. We wanted to create a funky-looking creature that looks both comical, grotesque, and appealing at the same time… and Uncle Mermaid is something that definitely achieves that look. It hasn’t been easy trying to perfect the look for Uncle Mermaid but I think we got it right.

We originally launched Uncle Mermaid as an art toy product in Korea, and we’ve been exhibiting across all the toy expos in Asia (from Korea to Taiwan to China and more).

We even did crazy, unimaginable things, like cosplaying in our mermaid fins (and shirtless) in the streets of Seoul. We even produced an animated trailer and produced a rap video featuring Uncle Mermaid.

We may or may not have gotten kicked out of a few places in Seoul while doing this.

Yet despite some degree of success, our team felt Uncle Mermaid still hadn’t received the full recognition and attention it deserved.

We think Uncle Mermaid should be on billboards in BIG BOLD LETTERS, something like this.

So when our team learned about the NFT community, we said THANK YOU ALMIGHTY because NFTs were exactly what we were waiting for. Our team embraced NFT’s fully. Like no joke, our entire model has shifted from traditional media to NFTs and blockchain gaming. The underlying technology of NFT is limitless and we are confident in re-launching Uncle Mermaid as an NFT brand on the blockchain because our goal is to focus on the community.

Cool profile picture (PFP) aside, the real goal of this Uncle Mermaid NFT collection is to create a COMMUNITY. Uncle Mermaid is the perfect building block to create a community because Uncle Mermaid is more than a character. Uncle Mermaid represents the struggles of adulthood, everything from paying bills to slowing metabolism to dead end jobs. But despite all our insecurities and flaws, we still have our ‘mermaid tail’, aka whatever ‘special’ thing or talent that makes us unique and special from anyone else.

But more about the cool PFP: Uncle Mermaid NFTs are made up of nearly 400 different traits, with a range of rarity and exclusivity. There will only be only 10,000 gen 1 Uncle Mermaids available. Gen 2 will be something entirely evolved, and we’re excited to share more of that with you soon as we proceed along with our roadmap.

Importantly, Uncle Mermaid NFTs will provide real-life benefits and utility for our community, everything from participating in exclusive events, winning limited edition NFT’s and physical collectibles (custom made by our team). Our team is strong believers in having experiences over things, so once we have a successful launch, we will fly some of our members out to Seoul to hang out with the Uncle Mermaid team and talk about NFTs and how to grow the community. These are just some of the community-building experiences we will provide.

Our roadmap is ambitious because our goal is to build Uncle Mermaid into the next dominant media franchise. This means creating content for Uncle Mermaid across all media verticals from toys, to animation to NFT gaming and more. We are already experimenting with the development of blockchain gaming & animation content for Uncle Mermaid and our NFT brands.

It’s definitely ambitious, but this is what our team literally does for a living! Our team has been working together for the past decade building all sorts of crazy cool projects from our creative studio based in Seoul and Los Angeles (check us out here). We’re in this for the long run for the rest of our lives!

Now we’re ready to dive in and make the biggest splash with Uncle Mermaid NFTs and to utilize them in NFT gaming (like the upcoming fantasy-anime card battle game) as well as an NFT animation series.

Think Yu-Gi-Oh… but with a whole lot of Uncle Mermaids instead.

For us, the big picture is creating a ‘metaverse’ that combines all of our NFT projects (and others) into what we call the Super Fine Meta, which is currently in development. The goal is to disrupt IP ownership by giving our members equity in the media franchise we are building for Uncle Mermaid. As the Uncle Mermaid IP grows, that success will be distributed back to our holders.
